Our Mill Lane family in Cambridge has ‘fairy-tail’ day swimming with mermaids!

Our Mill Lane family in Cambridge were treated to a spectacular swimming session with Twinkle the Mermaid.

Mill Lane is a residential care home that provides personal care to people with learning disabilities and autism, enabling them to live meaningful lives that include control, choice and independence.

The individuals we support had a 30-minute pool session with Twinkle, a performing mermaid, Miss Ocean World Europe 2021 and a qualified free dive instructor, where they were able to swim with her and have the full mermaid experience.

They then had a further half an hour to ask her questions and chat about life as a mermaid.

Alex Shears, interim manager at Mill Lane, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Twinkle the Mermaid for spending the afternoon with the individuals we support.

“They absolutely love all things fairy tale based, especially mermaids, so this was a dream come true.

“Twinkle was absolutely brilliant and everyone left the sessions on a high. It was lovely.”

Jennifer Hamilton Wason, an individual we support at Mill Lane, said: “Thank you Twinkle, I loved it. I’d like to do it again.”
