Physical Disability Support

Understanding Physical Disability Needs

At Salutem Care and Education, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care and support for individuals with physical disabilities. We understand that each person is unique, and we tailor our services to meet their specific needs. Our commitment to inclusivity, dignity, and independence ensures that those we serve can lead fulfilling lives. Below, we outline the various ways in which we support people with physical disabilities.

Our Approach

Social Model of Disability

We teach our colleagues about the Social Model of Disability at the request of the individual we support, some of whom are active in promoting the model

The social model of disability tells us that society plays a big role in creating problems for people with disabilities. It’s like this: people with disabilities often run into obstacles that keep them from fully taking part in society, which isn’t the case for people without disabilities. These obstacles can come in different forms. Sometimes, it’s physical stuff like buildings that aren’t easy to get around in. Other times, it’s more about how people think and act.

One important thing to remember with the social model of disability is the difference between “impairment” and “disability.” Impairment is about a person’s physical or mental condition, while disability is more about the barriers and limitations that society puts on people with impairments.

There are physical barriers that disabled people face. These could include things like:

Physical Barrier

A sign that someone with a visual impairment can’t read.

Physical Barrier

An inaccessible building without wheelchair ramps.

Physical Barrier

A webpage with flashing animations that could trigger a seizure

Tailored to your needs

We create individualised care plans for every person with a physical disability in our care. These plans encompass medical, therapeutic, and daily living support, ensuring a comprehensive approach to their well-being. Our team continuously reviews and adjusts these plans to meet evolving needs.

Skilled & compassionate staff

Our team of dedicated professionals includes nurses, therapists, caregivers, and support staff with extensive experience in caring for individuals with physical disabilities. They provide not only expert care but also emotional support and companionship.

Person-Centred care

We believe in putting the individual at the centre of their care plan. Our experienced team works closely with each person to understand their preferences, goals, and aspirations. This person-centred approach ensures that our support aligns with their unique needs and desires.

Designed for inclusivity

Salutem Care and Education is committed to providing accessible environments. Our facilities are designed to accommodate wheelchairs and mobility aids, ensuring ease of movement and independence for all the individuals we support.

Promoting independence

We offer a range of rehabilitation and therapy services tailored to the unique needs of each individual. Our goal is to maximise their independence and enhance their quality of life through physical and occupational therapy, speech therapy, and more.

Assistive technology

We embrace cutting-edge assistive technologies to empower individuals with physical disabilities. From communication devices to mobility aids, we ensure that individuals have access to the tools they need to live life to the fullest.

Building strong connections

We encourage involvement from family members and the local community. This support network enhances the well-being of our residents and fosters a sense of belonging.

Advocacy & rights protection

We are strong advocates for the rights and dignity of individuals with physical disabilities. Our team works tirelessly to ensure that all the individuals we support receive fair treatment and have their voices heard.

Continuous improvement

At Salutem Care and Education, we are continuously improving our services. We actively seek feedback from individuals in our care and their families to enhance our programmes and provide the highest quality support.
